Bill: Identity Card Policy Review
Details
Submitted by[?]: Social Democrat Alliance
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 4180
Description[?]:
We propose a change in our Identity Card policy. Administration and technical issues can be resolved much more easily when every citizen of our nation has his or her own Identity Card. That's why we propose the following change: Government-issued identity card policy. Citizens are issued with identity cards on a voluntary basis. New policy: All citizens are issued with identity cards but are not required to carry them. We do not want a police state, or to curtail the privacy of our citizens. That's why this Bill doesn't require people to carry their Identity Card 24/7. Instead, they are free to choose for themselves wheter or not they carry their ID with them. We open the debate, and we look forward to your answers and arguments. SDA |

Message | Mr Speaker, given that identity cards are currently only being issued upon individual citizens' requests, I do not see how this imposes a mandate on carrying them 24/7. We see no reason for changing the law for this fact, and it would additionally increase administrative cost by obliging the government to produce identity cards for 99,680,263 Dranish citizens upon its becoming law. Message | Unfortunately we don't see any reason for this law to be changed so we will not be able to support this bill |

Message | We have concerns over this bill and its potential to infringe on rights of privacy and rights to live without interference. We feel this would be a harmful move, therefore, we will be actively opposing the bill. |
