Message | "The budget for Science and Technology was, and still is, comparatively large in relation to other infrastructural budgets, such as Transport, Evironment, and Trade and Industry. While our recent tax reforms have freed some resources for the stimulation of economic development, we did not wish to blow the whole lot on those areas. So we had to moderately reduce the budget for Science and Technology, which, however, still remains relatively high. We remain confident that this moderate reduction will not adversely effect scientific and technological development, while we increased funds for economic and infrastructure development, for environmental protection, and for education, social services and the protection of our cultural heritage. We thank the Partido Tukaralii for their support for this budget." Fereydoon Estéves, Minister of Finance |
