Bill: Economic Reform Act 4180
Details
Submitted by[?]: Social Justice Coalition
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 4182
Description[?]:
This bill introduces changes in the economic policy of the nation. Firstly, we would like the government to consider a small corporation tax on the profit of organisations that operate in Free Danland. This policy will help to bolster and improve public service by increasing the amount of money made available to it. The majority of our legislature allows for the contracting of services to private companies, including some which are usually considered public run. By introducing this small taxation, at a rate that is still low - We are able to recoup funds from competitive tender and from the results of the economy the house works so hard to maintain. Given the low percentage of the taxation - It is unlikely to have any huge effects on the running of private industry in Free Dranland. Secondly, we propose a move to a small minimum wage - Replacing the absence of a minimum wage at present. We would personally like to see the introduction of a living wage, however recognise this is a huge burden to put immediately upon industry in Free Dranland. We are seeking this small initial change in order to provide the most vulnerable with a vital safety net against worker exploitation. |

Message | Mr Speaker, The lack of a minimum wage ensures the prosperity of the capitalist class, whose wealth trickles down to the workers. Furthermore we strongly condemn the continued use of soon to be obsolete term "Free Dranland." That time has passed, and good riddance. We suggest minor parties like the Social Justice Coalition learn to accept the new order. |

Random fact: "Treaty-locking", or ratifiying treaties that completely or nearly completely forbid any proposals to change laws, is not allowed. Amongst other possible sanctions, Moderation reserves the discretion to delete treaties and/or subject parties to a seat reset if this is necessary in order to reverse a treaty-lock situation. |
