Details

Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 4186
Description[?]:
Prostitution usually occurs when people do not financially have enough money to live. Our current law is that prostitution is legal. However, due to the health risks and the pure wrongness of it we propose that it is made illegal. We should not see this as acceptable as people may be cheated upon is desperation for money. The government provides and needs to provide more options to financially help people instead of this. Lets stop this wrongness and make a difference to encourage a better future for our people and country! |

Message | Dear Speaker, While we applaud you efforts to improve a sense of decency, we of our party feel that declaring prostitution illegal will be ineffective at curtailing prostitution-likely certain opportunistic individuals will move in and set up a black market because now more money can be made at it since it would be a crime to engage in such activity. Simply throwing money at the problem of the poor isn't going to solve the issue either-there is only so much a government can accomplish. Rather we feel that prostitution be legal but protections on the workers themselves be provided-perhaps even taxing the profession to pay for other social programs. We therefore prefer you change the proposed stance as "Prostitution is legal and a recognized profession." Until you do so, I have to regrettably inform you that we are going to vote "Nay" on this bill. Chairman Kim Minjun National Conservative Party |

Message | We will have to support our bill. It is very unfortunate that you don't see the good we are trying to do |

Message | The SDA has been discussing this Bill for many hours. Whilst we see the need to monitor prostitution, in order to safeguard society and girls against treacherous forced labour on the black market, we do not see a total ban on prostitution as the right answer. A total ban would force a lot of girls underground, thus empowering the black market and criminals operating on it. We would also lose taxes being rased right now. We see more in a solution concerning monitoring prostitution and reforming the branch to better combat the black market influences. We agree with the National Conservative Party: we can't support this Bill as it is now. |
