Voting deadline: May 2184
Description[?]:
The private sector offers many potential advantages in wood production: production efficiency due to exposure to competition; technological development and transfer; and the ability to undertake long-term investments. In general, both market and policy failures are such that the private sector will infrequently improve its forest management spontaneously. Private companies are more likely than the state to enact environmentally friendly policies due cost-savings in environmentally-sensitive practices, it is also partly due to stakeholder pressure and discriminating purchasing policies. Private companies cannot operate at a loss the state can and the people pay. |
