Bill: Environmental Protection Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Lutte Féministe de Libération

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 2185

Description[?]:

Because protecting our environment is one of the core issues of the new CDP mission statement, and because the CDP believes that whenever possible decisions should be passed on to local governments to decrease the opportunity for bureaucratical waste on the part of the federal authority, we introduce the following provisions to make our nation a better place:

ARTICLE 1: As the registration of domesticated animals does not represent a crucial function for the central government, the responsibility should be passed on to local governments who can provide for registration far more efficently.

ARTICLE 2: Thanks to advances in modern science, the use of lumber in construction is no longer needed. The diminishing forests of Rildanor should therefore be protected by a strict ban on timber harvesting.

ARTICLE 3: The use of fossil-fuel based vehicles has been extremely destructive to the environment, people should only be allowed to purchase environmentally friendly cars. We no longer allow pesticides that are bad for the environment, why should we insist on allowing destructive vehicles? Besides, our public transport system is so successful that cars are a thing of the past anyway.

MessageSo we can't cut trees at all? Where do we get paper? Import them from countries who cut them elsewhere? I fail to see the logic in that. We support article 1, but against articles 2 and 3.

MessageAgainst first, for third, and the second.. well we considered it way back, but due to the article "The government requires tree plantation at higher than replacement levels for all logging or clearance operations." we don't particarly mind that there is some logging, since it would actually enlarge our forests.
