Message | This is dictatorship. Forcing the people to buy all new cars and for what? Just to make people feel good about themselves. What about all of the people who cannot afford to buy a brand new car? What will they do? My fellow representatives if you value freedom at all, you will vote no on this horrible bill. John Freeman |
Date | 07:56:27, April 07, 2017 CET | From | Likatonian Independence Party | To | Debating the Enviromental Cars Act |
Message | Indeed, it is often easy to forget the regular folks on the street. We can only second Mr. Freeman's response to this proposal. How would hardworking likatonians get to work if they can't use their car? This also seems to be an urban vs. rural issue. Urban areas might have public transportation but depending on the locality rural areas might have virtually non-existent public transportation areas. Our stance: if this bill passes we hope it applies solely to the sale of new cars and doesn't mandate a ban on existing cars not meeting the criteria of the bill. Jesse Johnson Party Leader LIP |

Message | In the description of the bill it is clearly stated that "we need to make it where people can only buy environment-friendly cars". As we understand, this does not mean that the regular folks on the street will have to change their old Gilly car for a brand new eco-friendly one. What this means is that these highly pollutant cars will be banned from selling, so that the fleet of cars in Likatonia will be progressively substituted to eventually get rid of the ones that are killing ourselves. Thus, we strongly support. If it meant that more than half of Likatonians would have to buy a new car from one day to the next, then we wouldn't. ~~ Mary Wiggins, Secretary of Environment and Tourism |

Message | Just as Mary Wiggins said, we aren't forcing people to get rid of their cars. Just banning the future selling of them. |

Random fact: By default the head of government is the ultimate authority within a national government. In general terms, heads of government are expected to consult with cabinet colleagues (including those from other parties) before making significant decisions but they remain responsible for government action. |
Random quote: "Thousands of Zardic soldiers were sacrificed so that the Zardic government could gain control of a few buildings and Theodoro could pretend to be Augustus the Great. This is the kind of jingoistic ideology Zardugal would bring to the Security Council. They will throw countless lives away in pursuit of former glory." - Prince Akhaias, former Coburan royal |
