MessageMembers of Congress,

From what we understand Patricia Grayson has proposed a resolution to condemn New Endralon for their actions towards our country and urged other nations to close their embassies if they do not stop behaviour of this kind. I know nothing of her calling for war. She knows protocol and would not go down this route without the express approval of Congress first.

Perhaps she or the foreign Secretary can answer these claims so we can clear up this matter before committing to vote?

MessageMembers of Congress,

A vote of no confidence is completely unnecessary, especially at this time. Additionally, to clarify the issue at hand- there's been a lot of talk and discussion of this going to the security council and the proposal I am sure is welcomed by the vast majority of parties here- it is using diplomatic options to prevent issues. The article requests that there is an apology from New Endralon and that they stop unmotivated sanctions, if they refuse to apologise though- the security council recommends that nations close their embassies there, and potentially freeze assets. Please be clear though, it is a security council RECOMMENDATION and therefore nations can choose to do what they want.

We would hate to see what has happened to our country happened again. For a better Terra, I would urge congress to back this bill and vote against the no confidence in me. Thank you.

MessageMembers of Congress,

The resolution seems reasonable and within the remit of what is acceptable given the unjustified sanctions New Endralon has imposed on Baltusia and Istalia. For now we vote no and it will remain no - unless Mr Kindler has any persuasive evidence to change our minds.

Messageooc: Can I remind Congress that this requires a 2/3rds majority to pass as it is an RP Bill. Thank you.

MessageOoc: To be fair, only constitutional RP laws require a 2/3s majority. Normal RP laws, like this, require a simple majority like normal game mechanics laws - this is explained in Game rule 22. But if you have any doubt just pm one of the mods :).

MessageOOC: Patriots are correct: a simple majority would suffice. Given that it doesn't have any effect anyway, it's somewhat irrelevant.

MessageMembers of Congress,

Not only has Mr Kindler lied about the resolution presented by Patricia Grayson, who has now returned to the Security Council, his party President decided to make a trip to the World Congress' General Assembly to tell Security Council Members to vote 'No'. I find that if he is so determined to have Congress approve everything said by Baltusia in the Security Council, then we should get to scrutinise what nonsense he says in the General Assembly. Thankfully our close ally Istalia quickly pointed out that as his party only made up 23% of Congress, it is not the message from Baltusia. Istalia also informed Mr Murphy "start to defend your citizens rather then cooperate with a foreign government which is only aimed to perpetruate an irractional persecution of your citizens."

MessageOoc: Oh! I don't like irrelevant bills, so let us up the stakes.

IC: Members of Congress,

I address you today to be completely candid with you: As I gave Ms Grayson and the Foreign Secretary approval to pursue this resolution the buck must stop with me.

In my opinion this was a legitimate foreign policy action and used to gain us leverage in this situation. Already it has encouraged Hutori - a fellow Security Council member - to offer to talk to New Endralon, a long time ally of theirs, over this matter.

Therefore, I say now that a vote of confidence in Ms Grayson regarding this matter is a vote of confidence in me. If this bill is approved I will resign and hand over to VP Perkins, who at the appropriate time would call a new election.

The choice is yours members of Congress...

MessageWhat is evident from this interaction is the fundamental difference between the Patriotic Party and the Republican Party; the reason we regard the former as far more honourable individuals.

Firstly, we welcome the President's decision to make this bill a matter of confidence however we are somewhat cynical- given that he leads a government with a Congrerssional majority.

With regards to the comments by Mr. Liu, we say that you once again show how your party is fundamentally out of touch. I have not lied about the resolution. Ms. Grayson's resolution makes demands- what happens when those demands are not met? Conflict. A far better approach would have been to work with the regime in New Endralon. Clearly that is possible because the National Party (who aren't even in government!) have been able to do it. However, that doesn't suit the government, they want further escalation.

Similarly, there is a huge difference between the Security Council and the General Assembly. The latter is a discussion forum for political figures whereas the former is an ELECTED body designed to promote security in Terra. If our ELECTED representatives are failing in their duty to avoid conflict- which they are at the present moment- it is our duty to hold them to account.

Lastly, pull your head out of the Istalian arse. It is a nation of pussies.

Random fact: Did you know you can change the official name of your nation? All you need to do is draw up a new name that is in accordance with the Nation Renaming Guide, pass a bill proposing the name change with a two-thirds majority and then post a request to Moderation on the "Renaming Requests" thread. You can change city and region names in this way too.
