Description[?]:

Mr. Speaker,

Firefighters are among the heroes of our nation. They protect the citizens of Free Dranland every day, sometimes risking their own lives to save those of others. Many firefighters have been wounded by the flames.

We as the SDA value such character. Therefore, we take calls from firefighters about aged equipment and money being channeled away towards greedy companies. There have been instances where the firefighters had to abandon a building, because they did not have the training and material to save the building.

Therefore, we would like to suggest a new Bill, in which we push for a national Fire Department that is funded by the government. That way, we can ensure our firefighters are well equipped and trained for every emergency.

MessageMr Speaker,

there may be cases in which individual private firefighting services might have failed to live up to their task, but people do not suddenly become infallible when they are employed by the government instead. Since people tend to value safety, competition ensures that continually incompetent contenders will go out of business - if we only had a government monopoly, scrutinizing lackluster performance will be harder because individuals can no longer switch providers.

MessageMr Speaker,
We agree with the GNP on this. We are not sure how a national service will help us more than subcontractors. With regret we will not support this bill
