AM PSS requests the convocation consider putting in place rules to stop 'all and sundry' removing wild animals from our forests with the susequent impact on our ecosystem. Furthermore these animals my be mistreated, either on purpose or through ignorance and we find this state of affairs very concerning. We ask the convocation to find enough compassion to save these animals from unscrupulous and exploitative human beings. |

Message | But, all animals are technically wild... |

Message | We consider 'wild' as being born into the ecosystem, as opposed to animals born into captivity. Animals born into domestication are not covered as many of them would suffer or die when returned to nature. |

Message | Domesticated animals owe their existence to humans. There is no 'wild' version of the domesticated cow, for example... although, they are unlikely to be popular pets. There are no wild Chihuahuas, might be a better example. So - the wolf, which is arguably the 'wild' version of the domestic dog, is counted as a 'wild' animal, while the Chihuahua is considered 'not wild'. AM AAP is willing to support. |

Message | As it is currently written, would this not also prohibit keeping a wild animal temporarily to restore it to a healthy state? |

Message | The AM AAP believes that it is the intention of the legislation to prohibit long-term ownership. We envision that this legislation might make allowances for short-term intervals, since they could be argued as not constituting 'owning' the animal as a 'pet'. |
