Bill: Budget proposal of January 4201
Details
Submitted by[?]: Independent Democratic Party (IDP)
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 4201
Description[?]:
The Independent Democratic Party propose to adjust the government's spending budget to better address the economic and social situation of the United Peninsula of Free Dranland. With our infrastructure being extremely under funded, our education system ranking among the worst in the world, and many other problems facing our nation. We, the IDP believe that these increases in our national budget will ensure our citizens that our nation will never fall behind any other nations in anything. This proposal will still leave our country with a national surplus of around 1,000,000,000 and with our new taxation bill possibly more than that. |

Message | Mr Speaker, baseless claims that our education system is "among the worst in the world" is hardly a justification for splattering tax money all over the place. The degree of government involvement is not a reliable indicator for the quality of education - like in other areas, we should instead focus on competition and providing incentives for free-market solutions. Message | Mr. Prime Minister, The increase in funding is to basically fund the changes that the grand reforms made to many of our programs. The most effected being that of education and infrastructure. With our teachers being under paid and funding for other education programs under funded the vast majority of this increase would come to the education and culture departments. We have also made reforms in health care, infrastructure, social services, and many programs to support low income families that require additional funding. This budget is also investing more money to our trade and industry departments for the bailout of failing industries which was also part of the grand reform bills. An increase in government subsidies and spending requires an increase in the national budget. Without an increase in the budget we will see a lot of the funding for the Grand Reforms go unmet ultimately deeming the reforms unsuccessful and non-useful. This is why you will see the GNP vote against the budget in an attempt to put a freeze on the Grand Reform Bills. We hope the Labour Party can find our explanation good enough and come together with the IDP and the other supporting parties to pass this budget and fund all the new national programs.
