MessageThe government believe now is not the time for an election. Allow us please to finish our term in office and then we will happily call an election.

MessageA very disappointing decision of the Vorsitzender des Staatsrats. Looks like that his Government likes the smell of power too much. But may I remind you, Herr Steinmar, fear is a bad advisor,

MessageHerr Kruger,

I would point out that it is completely our right to serve a full term of four years as we were elected by the people to serve as a government for the next 4 years. We feel that there is no need for another early election, there has been no change in leadership within the government so we have as strong a mandate as ever. We see no good reason to call this election, otherwise we might as well just shorten the electoral term.

Additionally I would point out that the last SED government tried to lengthen their term in office by another two years to avoid fighting an election, so I will not allow them to lecture me on fear and delaying tactics.

MessageVorsitzender des Staatsrats,

Your statement is beside the point and cannot be compared with the former government at all, as you are well aware of. The VFD is always talking about democratic values till the moment they can do domething about it and give the electorate a better voice in the Volkskammer. This time your atitude can be calles hypocrite and opportunistic.

MessageHerr Kruger,

The electorate were given their voice, they chose my party to serve for a four year term. My party and my government have been elected by the people to serve for four years as their government. No party has become inactive, there has been no major changes that present the need for an election. Thus I feel it would be wrong to call one, we would be breaking our promise to serve as the government of this nation for our full term. Unless the leader of the SED can present me with a solid and concrete reason for calling this election, my party will not.
