Bill: Economic Safeguarding Act 4205

Details

Submitted by[?]: Patriotic Party of Baltusia

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 4205

Description[?]:

Members of Congress,

It is our belief that raising taxes is not the way to bolster ourselves for the global economic crisis.

Instead we must look at ways to sell off some of our assets to ensure we have the money in place to plug the gaps where needed, whilst committing the government to a reduced annual spend.

To this end we propose:

* To sell off some more defence interests to private companies - particularly in areas such as weaponry research.

* Sell off more of the nationalised branch line train services to the private companies that already run our mainline services.

In addition, we will look to:

* Cut down on a migrating foreign labour force taking up jobs by prioritising Baltusians for employment.

* Re-establish the Patriotic Security League as a private, auxiliary force to back up our military, thus reducing state spend even further while keeping the number of armed personnel up.

We estimate this will save our economy up to 20 billion Baltusian dollars per year, while giving Baltusians the best opportunity to secure employment and contribute taxes, rather than live off the state.

MessageAs the Majority Speaker has stated, increasing taxes must not be the only option in how to endure this economic crisis. As a result, the BDGP will support this measure. However, we still do not see allowing the Patriotic Security League to run as necessary, and remain resolutely against all paramilitaries, and would have rather that proposal revoked as soon as financially possible.

MessageWe thank the BDGP and the Republicans for backing this bill, which we see as essential for this country's stability.

In addition, I for one can assure the Finance Secretary that the Patriotic Security League is a force for good - and that is coming from someone who was once opposed to their movement when I was a member of the National Party. As the new Home Secretary I intend to work closely with them to help ensure security in Baltusia remains a priority even if government budgets in this area have to be cut.
