MessageSince 4202, we have had a clear plan to grow the economy; cutting corporation tax, cutting income and sales tax, and raising infrastructure spending. This has meant running a budget deficit of nearly 10bn ALO, something we have defended. During a time of recession, it is completely acceptable to borrow more to invest in our economy and pay back the borrowed money later. Furthermore, before the recession we had ran a surplus for many years, so we have a very low debt. Therefore, we can continue to run a budget deficit without being worried about issues such as higher interest rates resulting from high national debt.

This is why we are proposing further cuts to tax for corporations, meaning companies will be able to grow rather than just survive. Less jobs will be cut, and wages can grow. While I remain finance minister, we will continue to reduce spending in government departments where spending has been hugely-inflated. One of these departments is education and culture, where spending is disproportionately high. We are raising internal affairs, because we believe spending in that ministry is disproportionately low and we want to put hire more police officers to keep Alorians safe.

We have a manifesto commitment to reduce spending to 19% of GDP, and this is phase one of that plan.
