MessageBanning underage drinkers just leads to a culture where it's seen as a popular way to rebel.

MessageI think there should be a healthy mix of regulation and deregulation. That way we can still control the influx of alcohol on the market while fighting an underground movement against prohibitive practices.

MessageAlso: Why do we need licensed sale outlets? What could that possibly be regulating except an attempt by the government to just take a fee from any store selling alcohol? It's a revenue-grab.

MessageI think this bill is too extreme and reminds me of prohibition. While govt regulation in this area is desirable, we do not see replacing shopkeepers with bureaucrats as the solution.

MessageOh contrar Having Licensed outlets and or barkeeps means those onselling their goods are liable for who gets it if the onseller has no reason to fear selling to a minor then they will.

However if one had to buy/purchase a Licence and have it updated every few years or so and with heavy fines for breaking these conditions then they should be fined heavily.

We cant have everyone peddling.

MessageLiscences allow alchohol taxes to be collected more easily and puts a limit on times when alchohol is available, which is important for keeping down noise levels in residential areas at night and other such purposes. can we put this to vote?

MessageAlright, I'm convinced on the licenses. Still uncertain about the not-selling-to-minors part.

This will discourage supply, but how can we discourage demand? As long as there are 15-year-olds wanting alcohol, there'll be underage drinkers.

Another thing - are we entirely certain that banning young drinkers is a prudent use of police manpower?

MessageHmm RWL you do have a point..

We concur with LFP...how do we keep minors from drinking when there are so many ways around it?

Messageyou can't stop it, but you can limit it, and you dont need police to enforce it - just make it illegal for shop owners or bar staff to serve it to them.

MessageThe point is seniors can still buy alchohol and serve it to minors.

You can always find someone to get you some if you want it.

Messageyeah, but you actually have to go to lengths to get it, therefore consumption by minors would at least be significantly reduced.

MessageI don't think it would. The opponents of this bill have it dead on. kids would drink to be cool.

this is tying an undeeded stigma to drinking.

Random fact: "OOC", "IC" and "IG" are commonly-used acronyms in Particracy. "OOC" refers to comments, discussions and actions which are out-of-character, meaning they are done player-to-player rather than party-to-party. "IC" refers to in-character interactions (ie. party-to-party). Similarly, "IG" means in-game, although this term may also simply refer to what happens in the actual game interface, as opposed to on the forum or elsewhere. "RP" just means "role-play".
