Bill: Individual Freedom of Marriage Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Socialist Party of Davostan
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 4209
Description[?]:
This bill seeks to abolish the legal status of arranged marriages, and to allow individuals to chose their partners in matrimony by their own will. Such a principal should be understood to be a fundamental human right, and our nation should be in line with it. The bill also seeks to have the government formally recognize interracial marriages. While the government does not have a formal stance on the issue at the moment, it will be perceived as a sign of tolerance and respect towards minority groups. Furthermore, it would remove any possibility of future obscurity regarding who may write legislation on the issue, avoiding a potential future piece of discriminatory local legislation. |
