Message | Mr. Speaker, We don't agree the decline of seats of legislative branch. Adversely, we support to increase the seats of parliament since it increase the representative of the parliament to the people and also the representatives to each province. We think the Progressives would agree that the representative of the parliament should be greatly respected. In total, if article 2 is not cancelled, we would not support the bill. Message | We would suggest that more seats does not necessarily mean better representation. In fact, a large legislature of 500 or more seats makes it difficult for individual members to have their voice heard and for collegial collaboration to occur. This compromise measure would begin with the premise that each province should be entitled to the same number of seats (75) and that it is advantageous to have an odd number that would avert potential legislative deadlock. |
