Bill: Convocation Seat Change Act of July 2185
Details
Submitted by[?]: Proletariat Revolution Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2186
Description[?]:
Overtime, coalitions and alliances will change as the political climate does. Even within coalitions and alliances, parties will not always vote the same way. With an even number of votes, ties are very likely and are an impediment to the democratic process. AM-SLP hereby proposes that we raise the number of seats by 1 to ensure that there is never a chance of a tie when there is a crucial vote. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The total number of seats in the legislative assembly. Should be between 75 and 750.
Old value:: 500
Current: 213
Proposed: 501

Message | This is a sensible proposal that mimicks a 'speaker of the house' in many countries who has a casting vote in the event of a tie. |

Message | AM AAP will follow the will of the people... legislation only passes (conventionally) with more 'yes' than 'no' votes, so 'ties' are not really ties at all... they are failed votes. But, if the majority wishes to alter the number of seats, the AM AAP is willing to support. |
