Bill: Protecting the Nation and the World

Voting deadline: September 2187

Description[?]:

Exporting weapons to other nations is not only potentially disasterous to Quanzari's security, but also to the security of the entire planet. Increasing the global weapon market will further decrease the stability of the world, and lead to more frequent, destructive warfare among nations. With a diminished weapons market, countries would be greatly inclined to find a more peaceful solution to international conflicts.

We have all witnessed the countless the backfire of weapons exportation on the countries that produced them. For example, the United States' weapons given to the Taliban of Afghanistan are being used against their creators. The free proliferation of products designed specifically for killing must not be tolerated, lest a less scrupulous nation come into possession of said weapons.

The true weapons of mass destruction are not the nuclear, biological, or chemical weapons (which have rarely if ever been deployed). The true harbingers of death are the "small arms," rifles, pistols, hand grenades. Selling these weapons would only increase the pain and suffering of an already violent world.

The production of weapons exports leads to increased mining, factory pollution, and an economic reliance upon the industrial-miltary complex, all of which leads to environmental, moral, and overall societal degredation. The money and time saved by banning weapons exportations could not only help Quanzari, but could also encourage other countries to cease an irrational arms buildup, and concentrate on more important social issues such as education or healthcare and other forms of more profitable, healthy trade.

This bill would allow weapons exports ONLY to close allies.

MessageThe Union of Quanzari must reserve the right to ship arms to its allies around the world. The strict regulation and examination of such arms deals on a case by case basis should be sufficient.

MessageBecause we just don't agree. Happy?

Also, why not look at the situation in an economic perspective, make some money by selling off worthless weapons our naiton cannot use anyway, no harm, no foul, just prfit for our people.

MessageAlso from an economic perspective: Selling weapons to other countries will only trigger a global "arms race." If one country in a region receives new shipments of weapons, than the others in the reason WILL feel threatened, and in turn purchase more and more weapons. As we all know, weapons do nothing to promote social welfare or any benefits. The money spent on these useless weapons could be better spent on programs that will help society.
In addition, war has never helped any economy, leading to the destruction of public and private property alike, and the perpetuation of the war machine.

MessageOne cannot declare war in this game right now, so why does it matter?

MessageIt's the principle of the thing. The Union of Quanzari Soviets must reserve for itself the right to export arms at its own discretion.

MessageStill, why not make some sweet moola now while there is no possiblities for declarations of war, and then once those are alloted to the game we can deal with the problem.

MessageI suppose you could look at it from a "game perspective." But I'm trying to vote as if this were a real country. I can see that there is some opposition to this bill, and I will edit it appropriately.

MessageI believe that a compromise can be reached, and I have modified the bill to allow Quanzari to export its weapons to close allies for the sake of defense and economic growth.
