Message | We are against. By keeping energy production split amongst several private companies we can encourage healthy competition in the energy sector. |
Date | 12:45:37, February 15, 2006 CET | From | The Mordusian Green Party | To | Debating the The Energy Generation Ownership Act of 2185 |
Message | If the benefit of splitting energy production among several companies is price, we must suggest that this is not the only way to control prices. They can be set by the public co-operative that would "own" the power stations in the proposed measure. |

Message | I must admit, the prices do not go down by privitising the sector, but the quality increases. A contract with a private firm has the advantage of providing a safe insurance, while the government "rules supreme". |

Message | We reject the assertion the quality control rises once the commercial sector takes control of energy generation. Sure, prices may temporarily dip one business takes over energy generation, in order to entice consumers into the trap. Once businesses realizes they have consumers by the short and curlies, prices will rise again. By the same token, quality will decline, since the cabal of businesses that run energy production will work in cooperation to keep prices as low as possible and profits as high as possible. |

Random quote: "We must show that liberty is not merely one particular value but that it is the source and condition of most moral values. What a free society offers to the individual is much more than what he would be able to do if only he were free. We can therefore not fully appreciate the value of freedom until we know how a society of free men as a whole differs from one in which unfreedom prevails." - Friedrich August Hayek |
