Bill: Discrimination in the Military Act 4221
Details
Submitted by[?]: Socialist-Modernist Alliance
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 4222
Description[?]:
Any adult citizen should be able to serve in the military, no matter what their race or religion is. It is unfair to disallow people from doing the same as others just for being a different skin colour or believing in a different God. It is unacceptable to even judge people on what they're like due to their skin colour, let alone ban them from serving in the 2nd Great Democratic Republic of Lodamun's military. We would like to alter the law from: 'Candidates must be of a certain race/religion to have any place in the military., to: 'Any adult citizen can serve in the military, discrimination for racial or religious reasons is prohibited.' Racial and religious discrimination is wrong, whatever form it may take. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, The current application of the law is that someone has to be a Lodamese Nationalist; no racial discrimination takes place. Also, this nonsense about "a different God" has nothing to do with the law, as the Lodamese Nationalist religion is not a theistic religion. This is not in line with our nation's values, as it invites those who do not share our values to hold positions in the military. Our military will not be more effective, because it will not serve Lodamun; it will allow Hosians and people from foreign religions to be armed among our ranks. Some of these persons are not loyal to our nation. We would not be surprised if the people proposing and supporting this bill have no clue about even 2 tenets of Lodamese Nationalism. -- Linton Jager, Chairman of the GNRG, Trade/Industry Minister, Vice President of 2GDR Lodamun |

Message | To Linton Jager, Chairman of the GNRG, Is there anything wrong with people who do not share our values? Should we not be more open-minded to realise the existence of other cultures and how they are equal with ours? Also, Lodamese Nationalism is not the best ideology for Lodamun. Only progressivism, modernism and permissiveness can lead the nation forward into a better future. The GNRG clearly have no idea what the best way forward is for Lodamus. We should be accepting of people, no matter who they are. Opposing this bill makes no sense. Yours, Geogren Imwan, Party Leader of the SMP. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, the reason we apply this law is very simple. One protecting our nation should agree with the nation's ideology. We can not allow one who doesn't share the nation's policy and point of view to walk armed around our nation. What would happen if one such character should use his or her weapon against the government or, even worse, the President. We oppose strongly to this proposal. Angel Vergoote Minister of Defence |
