Bill: Withdrawal from League of Nations Pact
Details
Submitted by[?]: Patriotic Party of Baltusia
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill proposes the withdrawal from a treaty. It will require half of the legislature to vote in favor[?]. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 4231
Description[?]:
Members of Congress, We are currently signed up to a 90-year-old treaty which limits our ability to downgrade our stance on nuclear weapon development and compels us to come to the defence of several nations around the world. I advice Congress that this is not in our best interests; equally, it is preventing us from taking a free vote on our stance on nuclear weapon development, which I think is important and due imminently given the debate in World Congress. Thank you, Richard Hurt Foreign Secretary |

Message | Members of Congress, To clarify, at the moment this out-of-date treaty restricts us to the following two options: "The policy with respect to nuclear weaponry should be: A) The nation reserves the right to develop, produce and store nuclear arms. [For suggested guidelines, see http://forum.particracy.net/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=7077 ] or B) The nation shall never develop or produce nuclear weaponry but is permitted to allow allied nations to use its territory to store nuclear weapons or conduct nuclear weapons research." Random fact: By default the head of government is the ultimate authority within a national government. In general terms, heads of government are expected to consult with cabinet colleagues (including those from other parties) before making significant decisions but they remain responsible for government action. |
