Details

Submitted by[?]: Secularist, Socialist Party of Baltusia

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 4236

Description[?]:

Members of Congress,

Controlling population size and preventing the need for abortions are both topics which have been discussed at great length recently (http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=526966 http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=526983 http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=527042 http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=526445) these problems can both be reduced if we provide free contraceptives to all who need them.

MessageMembers of Congress,

Why should the government encourage - and pay for - the immoral proliferation of non-marital sexual encounters in order to control population numbers. This is an abomination and completely disregards our Hosian teachings.

I have a counter proposal - why don't we instead just sterilise anyone who supports the SSPB?

MessageMr Burleigh,

I believe that the reason that the mass sterilization of 12% of the population is a bad idea is that it would be discriminatory, immoral and unenforceable.

MessageIt is unfortunate that it is unenforceable, Mr Varnham, because it would be effective on two fronts:

Firstly, it would have a positive effect on over population;

Secondly, within a generation or two we wouldn't have to listen to you lot prattling on.

MessageMr Burleigh,

Hard as it may be for you to believe, not everybody holds the same belief as their parents. If you were the sterilize every member of our party, and everybody who votes for us then you would only increase our support (be it openly or not) because the more prohibited an idea is the more appealing it becomes.

And if you deride us fulfilling our role as the party leading the opposition as mere "prattling on" then perhaps the system of a democracy is not right for you and a constitutional monarchy would be more to your liking.
