MessageArticle 1: 16 is too low, 18 is acceptable. We don't feel 12 years of education are really adequate for a proper education.
Article 2: Acceptable.
Article 3: Acceptable.
Article 4: No, striking children isn't something we can allow. While it enforces strict discipline, it just teaches them that violence is a way to solve problems.

MessageWe would also like to point out that Article 4 is in conflict the the Treaty for Children's Rights, which Malivia is on the verge of ratifying.

MessageIf ratified, we will remove article 4.

What does the SDP think of lowering the age to 17?

MessageWe still believe 18 is as low as we should go. A year is a lot in educational terms.

MessageWe agree, however a year is also a lot in a person's life, especially in rural locations where hands are needed.

Keep in mind that students are not forced to drop out, they merely have the option. We believe that 17 year olds have reached the maturity level to make such a serious decision and know that many will not drop out as an education is much too valuable. For those that do decide to drop out, they are most likely the trouble makers in the schools so their loss is more of a victory.

MessageMalivia isn't a rural country. Most of it's population is situated in large cities along the coastlines. The central part of Malivia is too mountainous for agriculture.

MessageWho said anything about agriculture? We were referring to cattle herds, goat herds, etc.

MessageAnd the lowering of the required age would result in people dropping out to work the herds not becuase they want to but becasue they need to. We should be encouraging more education, to continue our progress into the future, rather then keeping Malivia in the dark ages,

MessageThe Malivianese people value education plain and simple. What is so different with 17 than 18? They are just arbitrary numbers.

Since a compromise was not reached, we will be sending the whole thing to a vote.

MessageSex education must not be deregulated. However, we will vote for most of the bill because it is in line with our vision. We will return to the matter of sex education at a later point.
