Bill: Flat Tax of 4238
Details
Submitted by[?]: Statesmen of Mordusia for Self Reliance
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill proposes to change income taxes. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 4238
Description[?]:
This tax plan balances the budget. There is no need to collect more money than we are spending. We have plenty of built up cash reserves in case of an emergency. A Flat Tax rate is more fair. The more you make, the more you pay. This plan will give people a greater incentive to advance their careers, open a business, and work hard for success, thus improving our economy and increasing GDP. |

Message | Do the math. It is balanced. http://classic.particracy.net/budget.php?nationid=26 This is effectively a tax cut. The Mordusian people deserve to keep more of their hard earned money. |

Message | This will raise taxes on those earning the lowest in society. How is this fair? Progressive taxation is the only way to fairly tax people. |

Message | I have done the math, considering I was the former Head of Mathematics at the Federal University of Mordusia. This will leave us with roughly 294 billion MRD, whilst our budget consumes 300 billion MRD. Now you do the maths sir, is it going to leave us with a sufficient surplus? Message | A 4 billion MRD deficit is nothing. We have been running a 40 billion MRD surplus for over a decade so there is plenty of money in the treasury to compensate for this. This budget is effectively balanced. (OOC: The game engine does not allow you to add fractions of a percent to the tax rate, otherwise it would be exact) |

Message | To the PSP, Why is it fair that some of the population pays no income tax? The bottom line is that this is not fair. It is only fair that all citizens have a stake in the government. Everyone should care about how the government is spending money because we all contribute. If you don't contribute, all you care about is getting a handout from others. That is not the recipe for a productive society. It is a recipe for lethargy, and economic stagnation and decline. |

Message | If you want the Tea Party's support in a new tax proposal change it to 5 percent so that we have a sufficient surplus whilst everyone pays their fair share of tax. Horace Grumsworth Candidate for Minister of Finance Tea Party |

Message | What is the point if having such a large surplus? That money would just sit and do nothing to stimulate our economy. Any surplus should be left in the hands of our citizens. How bout a 4% flat tax and an increase in Defense spending? |
