Message | Mr Speaker, we can easily imagine situation of terror attack or other disaster, that threatens security of our nation. In those kind of situations, state emergency situations, protection of our citizens should be ultimate goal. We are NOT advocating police state nor we everbe. We just want to be assured, that when emergency happens, our government has any means necessary to secure our safety. Christopher Whitehope, SoRM Chairman and Parliamentary Leader |

Message | Mr Speaker, The Freedom Party will wholeheartedly oppose this bill when it goes to vote. Curfews are extremely authoritarian and are completely unacceptable no matter the circumstance. There is protecting the people, and then there is curbing people's liberty in the name of national security. I fear that the Sons of the Republic are doing the latter. (Sarah Buxton, Prime Minister and Leader of the Freedom Party) |

Message | Mr Speaker, I think Prime Minister failed to understand what "state of emergency means". We are not talking of enforcing a curfew during ordinary day, when everything goes as usual. We are talking about empowering government in extreme cases - terror attack that blows this very House, hostile activity on our territory - that sort of things, when managing our civilian population is absolutely essential to maintain our security. When It's needed, The State should be able to act fiercely. There is a line between liberty and reckless. (Christopher Whitehope, SoRM Chairman and Parliamentary Leader) |

Random fact: Any RP law granting extraordinary "emergency powers" or dictator-like powers to a government must be passed by at least a 2/3rds majority, but (like all RP laws) may always be overturned by a simple majority vote of the legislature. |
