Bill: Alcohol Sales Deregulation Bill 4238

Details

Submitted by[?]: Nationale Liberale Partei

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 4239

Description[?]:

For too long the sale of alcohol has required a license. This stifles potential competitors who must first get a license before being able to sell therefore draining the economy. Provided they are adults, the people are perfectly capable of choosing for themselves the right Alcoholic beverage. There are already regulations in terms of the safe production of alcoholic drinks therefore removing the license requirement would not damage the safety of our citizens.

MessageThis move is completely abhorrent and utterly reject it! This new "national liberal force" appears to have no specific ideology and creates the impression that they are a joke!

MessageIn regards to the statement by the KUP

The party is Right Wing Libertarian meaning it supports free markets and broad civil liberties. Perhaps you should stay consistent with your claimed conservative values and support deregulation and free markets instead of just being "conservative in name only".

MessageMr Weingartner,

You are aware that more than one strand of conservatism exits, right? And this bill goes beyond regular conservatism, it is pure outlandish libertarianism.

MessageTo our esteemed friends in the DVP we are well aware that there are different strands that exist. But it is the KUP who does not realise this when they stated our movement "appears to have no specific ideology and creates the impression that they are a joke". We do not believe this is "outlandish libertarianism" but a normal deregulatory bill that will improve economic productivity. Our opinion is that the KUP is not free market enough to be considered a strand of conservatism. Perhaps as a centrist party.

MessageMr Weingartner,

I can assure you they are not centrists. You do not define conservatism. The economic and social axis of politics are separate things. It's buffoonish. The KUP are conservatives, just not libertarian conservatives. Allowing alcohol to be drank anywhere is not an intrinsically conservative ideal.

Random fact: By default the head of government is the ultimate authority within a national government. In general terms, heads of government are expected to consult with cabinet colleagues (including those from other parties) before making significant decisions but they remain responsible for government action.
