| Based on the principle of self-ownership, we believe it is a violation of a person's bodily autonomy to presume consent. We therefore submit for a change in the law to recognise that organ donation is the right of the individual and it is not the right of the community to seize a person's organs without their consent. Nor do we recognise organ donation as a duty or obligation to the individual, as a person's organs are their own private property and not the property of the state or community as a whole. |
