Bill: Assistance Bill for The Tribe of Shrin Kali
Details
Submitted by[?]: Patriot Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 2061
Description[?]:
This is our second tribe that has run into financial trouble. It is time for a full scale investigation into these matters. First though the important issue: 1. I am proposing a tax hiatus for this region. They need time to recover and taxing those that have just lost their jobs is ludicrous. 2. I am asking the government for federal help into keeping this region afloat. I am also asking the federal government to keep the other region that has suffered the same fate afloat too. 3. Unemployment benefits need to be extended for a period of one year so that the people will have the necessary time to find a new job. 4. Job placement programs need to be instituted to help the people of the Tribe to find new jobs. 5. If people are unqualified for a job, then it is our responsibility to make sure that they are qualified. I am proposing that we set up Job Training programs for various areas of the economy. This will help the people as well as all other sectors. Now on to the next important thing. It is time for us to crack down on all of this corruption. We need to set up a Securities Exchange Commission to investigate all the improprities of these businesses and to bring the people responsible to trial. The minimum sentence should be 10 years in jail and they need to pay restitution to those that they have hurt. They should never be allowed to be on a board of directors or hold management jobs ever again. The people of all tribes are at risk. If anyone has any other suggestions, I am open to them. It is about time that we get business reforms done otherwise, more people will suffer the same fate and that isn't right. |

You are assuming it is corruption that is doing this, whereas it is just a simple economic recession. Thousands of businesses in RL go bankrupt without being corrupt. It's just the forces of capitalism at work. |

Message | It could be by why take a chance that it was just economic reasons. Besides, we need something like the Securities Exchange Commission to try and prevent things from happening in the future. WHy are you opposed to it? You also know that opposing this bill is opposing those that lost their jobs. Don't you want to help those that lost their jobs? |

Message | Because we already have an SEC. Came with the stock exchange when Timotheus entered the country ;) I have to say however that I am limiting my support to the Gworuskans. Bailing out two failed businesses is two too many. I'm a fiscal conservative, you know. |

Message | Considering I haven't seen the bill to authorize it, I"m going to have say yea right with that statement. I'm fiscal conservative myself, however, they are important industries. I guess you don't care about the people of the Shrin Kali Tribe. Nice to know you don't look out for the average joe. |

Message | Are people who live on income below a certain value not taxed anyway? So what's the point of a tax break? |

Message | But people on unemployment benefits would surely be on an income below that value, and so wouldn't pay tax anyway. |

Random fact: Players have a responsibility to differentiate between OOC (out-of-character) and IC (in-character) behaviour, and to make clear when they are communicating in OOC or IC terms. Since Particracy is a role-playing game, IC excesses are generally fine, but OOC attacks are not. However, players must not presume this convention permits them to harass a player with IC remarks that have a clear OOC context. |
