Voting deadline: March 4249

Description[?]:

Mr. Speaker,
Traffic in our capital city has reached an all time high, and our current metro system is not adequately constructed & funded to allow it to carry the burden of Vanderburg, Our proud capital city. A new and efficient system must be enacted to quell traffic problems in the city. As the Cabinet member for Infrastructure and Transport, I propose the construct of a new Tram based system, through the streets of our city to reduce commuting times and to reduce our capital's output of harmful fumes.

-Susan Hughes, The Cabinet Member for Infrastructure and Transport, From the New Parliamentary Group for labor.

If Passed This Bill Will:
1), Allow the Department of Infrastructure and Transport, to requisition the funds needed to facilitate the construction of a new tram service through Vanderburg and its suburbs, as well as the necessary infrastructure, such as depots and service stations, needed to support this service.

2), Allow the Department of Infrastructure and Transport, to create a public company dubbed "MetroLine" with its mandate tasked with establishing and maintaining of relevant aspects of this new Network including:
a) Training Hiring and firing of workers,
b) Line and Vehicle Maintenance,
c) Technological Infrastructure needed to maintain the Network,

3), Allow the Department of Infrastructure and Transport, to make changes to existing Public Transport Systems in place in the city, to ensure that the System operates at maximum efficiency and to prevent clashes with new services.

4), Allow the Department of Infrastructure and Transport, to make changes to the current fare structures of all Public Transport in Vanderburg to facilitate the potential surge in costs regarding new and existing public transport network.

5), Allow the Department of Infrastructure and Transport, to work with local Private transportation network companies to ensure that Public Transport in the city works as effectively and efficiently as possible and if necessary having the power to intervene in such local Networks with appropriate Judicial Support and Oversight.

6), Allow the Department of Infrastructure and Transport, to monitor and maintain a standard of reliability and safety within the MetroLine Network, with appropriate Judicial Support and Oversight.

MessageMr speaker,
We agree traffic is congested and we do have a very real problem on our hands. We agree, something must be done. But we think it is necersarry to go further than a transport system regarding simply just trams. We believe that a three way system should be adopted, an expanded subway network, trams, bicycle lanes, buses and maybe a carpooling encouragement programme. This would mean that commuters would be able to have an option of transport. And also that there is several systems to fall back on if one fails.
