Bill: Meeting Our Present Need
Details
Submitted by[?]: Lutte Féministe de Libération
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 2189
Description[?]:
It seems we are in a sort of economic recession. We have already proposed the needed new budget to spur spending and investment that will benefit us in the long run. We have also proposed a new tax bill to cover some of the costs associated with the new budget. Although we are not opposed to a deficit, even the new income tax alone will not meet all our needs. So we propose increases in the sales tax of both essential and nonessential goods, as well as a significant taxation on corporations, which is desperately needed. |

Message | we are opposed to tax rises on essential goods as this will hit the poor harder than the rich, other than that we will vote yes. |

Message | The tax on essential goods has been removed. I hope you will vote yes. I hope other parties will vote yes as well. This is by far the most reasonable tax increase we have proposed. The NCC should agree, too, as they are fond of saying that "corporations should be treated as individuals." If this is true, they surely will support a proposal that will tax corporations at a rate equal to the taxation of most well to do individuals. Right now, corporations are being taxed at a level equal to the taxation of the poorest people. |

Message | Err, let me get this straight you want to get out of a recession by raising taxes and putting more people out of work? Are you insane or just plain dumb? |

Message | Ever since the URCW left we didn't have any name-calling for ages (except a few minor incidents with someone who lives in the middle of the sea, so didn't understand the names he was being called), don't start insulting people again. |

Message | Most reasonable? Do you not mean Highest tax increase? |

Message | "Err, let me get this straight you want to get out of a recession by raising taxes and putting more people out of work? Are you insane or just plain dumb?" People will not be put out of work. Our new budget will dramatically increase demand and put millions to work on the government payroll doing constructive development and investment projects. So, no, I'm not dumb. I've read enough Keynes and Galbraith to know what's what. And please don't start calling people names. I'm more than capable of calling you a few names to, but it would be so unseemly. |
