Bill: Reestablishment of the Office of Imperator
Details
Submitted by[?]: Legio Nationalis
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 4254
Description[?]:
The Imperator will be the Head of State. They will have the power to direct the nation's foreign policy (including appointing ambassadors), appointing regional governors, propose legislation to the Senate, and appoint nobility. The Imperator will be elected for a life position by a council at Saturnium, consisting of all the members of the Senate. Parties with one hundred seats or more may propose a candidate for Imperator. Once more than half the Senate reaches a consensus (OOC: note this is a smaller threshhold than the last draft, I think this is better for actually getting someone elected), the Imperator is chosen (OOC: A random number generator will be used at this point determining the maximum lifespan which is between 1 and 110-the age of the Imperator on taking office, we can adjust this later if necessary) The Imperator may resign or be removed from office if 2/3 of the Senate votes accordingly. The Imperator will have the right, as with Imperator tradition, to rename themselves with additional names (OOC: Consult past full names of Roman emperors and go along those lines) |

Message | Shame on Selucia if this ever passes, because dark days for democracy will be coming. We cannot impose national leaders to our citizens if they have not even had the chance to vote for or against them, as it happens with our actual Consuls. What's more, giving all those powers to the Imperator will make this a kind of little rule of the nobles. We have worked so hard since our foundation to stablish real liberties in Selucia, and we will not tolerate this. We will work to abolish this as soon as it passes, with no exception. We all know, from our past Imperators, how do they think. Right-wing ideology all the way. Plubio Scipionis, Spokesperson of IM-CS |
