Bill: Term Length and Seat Number Reduction Amendment
Details
Submitted by[?]: Liberal Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 4266
Description[?]:
Whereas five years is an odd number, and unusual for a term limit. Whereas the majority of business done during a term occurs in the first four years. Whereas 750 seats is simply too large. Whereas cutting the seats to 600 will create a more reasonable solid number of seats. Be it enacted by the assembly of Rutania, Section I: Title a) This Amendment shall be known as the "Term Length and Seat Number Reduction Amendment" Section II: Amendment a) Any mention of "five years" will be modified to "four years" in any law regarding the President's term length. b) The number of seats will be reduced from 750 to 600 seats. Section III: Enactment a) This Amendment shall go into effect immediately, and will affect the term length of the next person elected President. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, While my party does find the reforms offered in this amendment to be beneficial and sensible we believe that this alone doesn't go far enough, the current size of the Peoples Assembly is expressively large, something we believes only fuels partisanship and prevents legislative changes from occurring at an acceptable rate, if our colleagues will agree to support reducing the seats in the Peoples Assembly then we shall support shortening the legislative and executive term. -Prime Minister Royce Blood |
