Message | It's okay that the government doesn't officially recognise polygamy, but to sue who tries it even in an unregistered way it's wrong. |

Message | Why? We prosecute those who practice arranged marriages or incesteous relationships, why not polygamous ones? |

Message | Because arranged marriages are made like any marriage, the difference is that it is forced. Polygamy as long as it is not made with two marriages recognized by law at the same time is valid and also polygamists are minority and do not bring problem to anyone, as long as there is only a single relationship recorded as legal marriage, the other relationships don't need to be logged. |

Message | Polygamous marriages are prevalent in patriarchal societies in which women are repressed. Essentially what you are saying is that we should turn a blind eye to such practices and offer no official recognition to the non-legally recognised spouse so that they accrue none of the benefits that marriages offers and none of the legal protection offered to the officially married spouse. That is not a desirable system, shame on the PDR for their un-Tukarese. |

Message | Well, there aren't only polygamists relationships between a man and several women, there is also between a woman and several men, relationships polygamists homosexuals (various men or various women) and also bisexual polygamists relationships. |
Date | 15:21:36, September 09, 2017 CET | From | Partido Nacional | To | Debating the Polygamy Bill |
Message | The last two are illegal under Tukarese law anyway. And that still doesn't change the fact that the second, third or fourth spouse has no legal protection under this system therefore is significantly open to exploitation. |
Date | 15:28:22, September 09, 2017 CET | From | Partido Democrático Republicano | To | Debating the Polygamy Bill |
Message | So we have three choices: do not recognise and not sue, do not recognise and process or do as many countries, recognise. |
Date | 15:30:34, September 09, 2017 CET | From | Partido Nacional | To | Debating the Polygamy Bill |
Message | This proposal offers greater protection to potentially exploited spouses. |
