Bill: Fair Imprisonment Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: United Green & Agricultural Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 4270

Description[?]:

I believe that the death penalty only adds more grief to a terrible situation. Killing another human being doesn't help anyone, it just makes things worse. The death penalty cannot be applied for fear of mistakes in our justice system and for the fair treatment of the families of criminals because they will be the ones to suffer because of the death penalty.

Nobody has the right to take the life of another, no matter how terrible of a person they may be.

MessageMr. Speaker,

I'd like to ask our colleagues from the UGAP what alternative they prefer? Is it better to spend a small fortune to keep the most violent rapist and murders locked in a cell forever? Is that not taking their life as well or do you suppose that a life lived behind bars is a life worth living, a fulfilling life?

Furthermore I would bet that this isn't about the death penalty or criminal reform at all, this is the incoming administration moving quickly to undo the work of the last administration. The Bennett-Blood compromise still has the ink drying on the bill i'd bet but President Rivers and her cronies are coming for every conservative gain of the last 5 years, next they will be raising taxes.
