Bill: Animal Testing

Details

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 2190

Description[?]:

I strongly believe that the testing and funding of animal testing should be stopped. However I think though that the testing of substances should be moved to those who have commited serious offences such as rape, murder or paedophilia. This is a perhaps a form of cruelty yes but what conscious thought did the animal have on its own decision to be tested on? None. But the murderer, rapest or paedophile had a conscious choice on their own desision. Those who have mental health problems though should not be tested on if after a extensive psychological report and lie detector test they show they are highly unstable and could not control their choice. Then, the individuals should br put into an asylum and helped, but if they become 'sane' then they should be put back into society to live a 'normal' life but if they commit the same offence or similar again there are no second chances and should be tested on. I believe this would also be a good deterent for other criminals as who knows what would happen to them if new pioneering drugs were tested on them. I also think this would be effective as the genetic make-up of an animal would be different to that of an animal and would lead to more detailed and extensive research. Voluntary testing should still be allowed from the 'normal members' of society.
