Conscription: From age 18 (3 years of service)

Command Structure:

The Head of State, Marshal of the Republic Erik Papazian, is the de facto commander in chief but the de jure commander in chief is Defense Minister Avedis Keshishian. The Minister of Defense is supported by the heads of the army, navy, and airforce as well as the of the Republican Guard.

As Marshal Papazian is somewhat knowledgeable in regard to warfare, he has the ability to usurp command of any aspect of the armed forces from its original commander. Since power is centralized into the HoS, he does not have to go through any legislative hurdles to do this.
**The title "Marshal" of the Republic is only ceremonial and for show

Army Reserves:
400,000 reserves are maintained in a brigade command structure at strategic locations outside major towns and cities in Pontesia. These reserves receive training each month for two weekends. They are only mobilised when Pontesia enters a state of war or when the Marshal of the Republic declares a state of emergency.

The Reserve HQ is located in Dawnstar and is commanded by Petros Khachatourian.
Once mobilised, the reserves will either be used to reinforce existing units or create new ones. If the latter is chosen, these new divisions will be organized into Republican Guard Divisions of almost exclusively infantry. Once this process is completed, they are attached to an appropriate corps and sent to the front. Due to rampant corruption in the reserve apparatus, quality of these units can vary wildly, although the majority of the reserves are trained to a mediocre level.

-----

Pontesian Air Force (Պոնտեսյան օդուժը) 4,000 Active, 5,000 Reserve (Two Air Wings - 10 squadrons of 11 aircraft)
Squadrons are a mix of fighter, interceptor. bomber and CAS craft complemented with anti-aircraft battalions, search and rescue craft and airborne warning and control system craft (AWACs). In addition to this, most major cities and industrial centers contain a battery of AA guns.
Air Force HQ (Dawnstar)- Air Marshal

Random fact: Cabinet ministers who disagree seriously with the head of government would usually be expected to resign. Parties within the cabinet may attempt to manoeuvre to replace the head of government though, for example by proposing a new cabinet bill or voting for an early election.

Random quote: "The strongest reason for people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." - Thomas Jefferson
