Bill: Alorian Culture Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Plaid Ffederaliaeth a Rhyddid
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 4274
Description[?]:
**This bill will also change the primary name of the country known as Aloria to: "Gweriniaeth Ddemocrataidd Aloria" This bill also acknowledges "Demokratische Republik Aloria" as the official Dundorfian name of Aloria. This bill acknowledges "Democratic Republic of Aloria" as the special Luthorian name of Aloria. This bill acknowledges "Democraticae Reipublicae Aloria" as the special Selucian name of Aloria, for use in official Selucian language documents and other Selucian language materials published by the government. This bill further acknowledges "Tirgwyryf" as the traditional Draddeg name for Aloria, for usage when appropriate. For special usage in all Selucian language materials published by the Alorian government, the Alorian government acknowledges, The term "Primus Inter Pares" as the special Selucian name for the Prif Weinidog / Premierminister(in). The term "Praeses" as the special Selucian name for the Llywydd / Präsident(in). The term "Senatus" as the special Selucian name for the Senedd / Senat. Only a minority of Alorians are fluent in Luthorian, and it is a continued problem that Luthorian names for our nation, Senate, and both Head of State and Head of Government are used. This act seeks to rectify this by changing the names of our most important political institutions to Draddeg and Dundorfian, the two largest languages spoken in our country. This will proclaim our pride in our Alorian identity, and make Alorians feel like they truly live in a country that is their own. |

Message | We support. This has been a long standing goal of ours - as the AFP know, and we are pleased to see a return to Alorian culture. |

Message | OOC: Though add (in) - including the brackets - onto the end of Premierminister and Präsident to denote gender. In German - or Dundorfian - the gender is always made clear with an -in at the end signifying that the person is a women. |

Message | We would like input on this. Particularly, if the country should have a name that is an analogue to "Republic of Aloria" or "Democratic Republic of Aloria". Also, putting the Luthorian name in parentheses is somewhat acceptable to us, but least preferred. If doing this would garner more support, then so be it. |

Message | We don't like the idea of being a Democratic Republic due to the connotations that that name gives. We would propose the "Federal Republic of Aloria" which is Gweriniaeth Ffederal Aloria. |

Message | Aloria has, throughout much of its history, been called the "Democratic Republic of Aloria" in some form or another. Due to the disagreement that's liable to come from changing the name, might it be best to just call the nation the "Gweriniaeth Aloria" (Republic of Aloria)? |

Message | OOC: Having looked through the history of Aloria, especially with the significance of the NWO period - and what that means to Alorians (we still have the same flag and anthem that the first democratically elected government put in place after the occupation which occurred between 2653-2672) I agree that we should be called the Democratic Republic of Aloria. |

Message | OOC: I feel the same way. Having our current Aloria echo that one is important I think. The Democratic Republic name is important. |

Message | Opposed |
Date | 02:07:00, September 17, 2017 CET | From | Plaid Ffederaliaeth a Rhyddid | To | Debating the Alorian Culture Act |
Message | Why would the Labor Party oppose this bill? Are they so out of touch with the culture of Aloria that they thing with are a Luthori colony? |
Date | 09:46:46, September 17, 2017 CET | From | Union of Progressive Forces | To | Debating the Alorian Culture Act |
Message | We think that Selucian and Luthorian should be added to the name change. Scheider Johnson, Cultural Studies student and Senator |

Message | We agree with the Selucian actually, but I think that since we are not a Luthori country we don't need that. Plus four names is quite long winded. |

Message | All in all, we will support this bill. |

Message | We feel that putting Selucian in the official name would make things too complicated. However, we are including a special clause for Selucian in the text of this bill. |
Date | 21:28:34, September 17, 2017 CET | From | Liberal Party (Plaid Ryddfrydol) | To | Debating the Alorian Culture Act |
Message | We would support the Luthori translation in brackets. |
