Bill: Violent Protest Act, November 4274
Details
Submitted by[?]: Parti Libertaraidd Newydd (PLN/NLP)
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 4275
Description[?]:
This act seeks to reduce the level of violence in the streets by introducing emergency measures that will give power to the police to break up demonstrations should they turn violent. It must be stressed that any peaceful protests shall be allowed to resume, and that restricting them would go against political freedom. The Police will also patrol the streets more actively in order to prevent violence. They will reserve the right to arrest any protester who is aggressive, and is a danger to the public. I do however understand the need for balance here, and to protect against the possibility of the situation swinging the other way, and police brutality occurring, I am setting up the Independent Watchdog for the Actions of Policemen/women Against Protesters (IWAPA), which will guarantee safety for peaceful protesters. Finally, this act will remain enforced until after the next elections. After that, the Senate will decide whether these laws can be repealed or not. This is to prevent a relapse back into violence, should we be successful in preventing further damage. Eleonore Luxenberg Justice Minister Article 1: The police patrol public property at all times Article 2: The police may disperse a group if they believe it poses a potential risk to public safety Article 3: The Independent Watchdog for the Actions of Policemen/women Against Protesters (IWAPA) will be formed and will be able to prosecute any policeman/woman who wrongfully apprehends a peaceful protester. Article 4: This Act will remain in place until the next election to prevent relapse back into violence. There then must be a vote immediately after the next government is formed to decide whether to keep this Act in law depending upon the situation. |

Message | So, the RSF has decided to vote against this bill - no surprise there. What is a surprise however is the Labor Party's position on this matter. Does the Labor Party support the RSF's ambition of starting a class war? Does the Labor Party support the fascist RSF? Folant Owen ALP Senate Leader |
