Some people say vaccines are bad. Maybe they are bad. If they don’t want the vaccine, let them not have it. Also herd protection exists, so we’ll be fine.

Freedom!

MessageThis is so asinine, I'm genuinely shocked. There are two active parties who believe science is wrong and that children should be allowed to get horrific diseases. The next election do not look promising for Dorvik.

MessageNo! Lies! Wahler is fake news. We think all people should have a choice because we believe in freedom, and herd immunity will protect them anyway.

MessageFreedom to kill hundreds of people?

And as for your 'herd immunity' nonsense, that's BS. Most diseases, like meningitis, which vaccines solve cannot be controlled by genetic resistance.

MessageThe freedom for an individual to assess themselves whether the risk is acceptable.

Awe, look at Herr Wahler trying to pretend he knows what herd immunity is. "Genetic resistance?" Wow! The concept is simple: with most people vaccinated -- as I believe there will be -- those few who are not vaccinated are protected.

Perhaps you should stay away from matters you clearly do not understand, Chancellor.

MessageThat's a ridiculous position. Someone without medical training cannot tell the risks of nonvaccination.

I'm sorry for making myself unclear beforehand. I was articulating two different points: one, herd immunity is not effective enough to prevent outbreaks; two, genetic resistance also cannot be used as a defense.

MessageThere is debate within the medical community itself! What is the more ridiculous position, that we let people choose what to do with their own bodies or we force them to do things they don’t want to — benefitting nobody, because the risks of an outbreak are so minimal thanks to hereby immunity anyway that it doesn’t matter to the rest of the world?

And did... did you just describe the idea of herd immunity as BS then? You seem to still have no comprehension of the concept. An outbreak is impossible, affecting at most only a small minority of the non-vaccinated people — who CHOSE this. There is no risk to those vaccinated. How do you not see this?

You’re digging your own hole here, Chancellor.

Clearly the argument is one of free will versus a the state making decisions for the people because they’re apparently too stupid to think for themselves what to do to their own bodies. Is that what you’re saying? The people are just too uneducated to think about matters themselves? Perhaps that would explain why you’re Chancellor, I suppose...

MessageThe medical community agrees entirely that vaccination is good. The fact is that it is not any kind of freedom or choice when you let your child die of a disease they could be vaccinated against.

If a large amount of people are not vaccinated, then an outbreak can occur. Does it not matter if only a few people die of disease, or is there a number where it begins to become relevant?

The fact you are presenting this as the state just controlling people is ludicrous. It is preventing parents from killing their children by not having them vaccinated. If an unvaccinated child dies of a disease they could've been vaccinated for, that is manslaughter on the side of the parents. I have no doubt most people would choose to vaccinate their children, but you can't allow fringe crazes to run about with silly ideas, even if they only have 15 seats.

MessageBut those non-vaccinated kids won’t die, because of herd immunity! But they will escape an oppressive government forcing them to submit to awful, awful side effects! I have seen these kids. Awful, side effects are awful! Risky! This is a matter of choice!

MessageThose non-vaccinated kids can die. Herd immunity stops spreading diseases, if someone isn't vaccinated they can die or be left seriously injured. There are no known long-term side effects to vaccines. This is as much a matter of choice as it is a matter of choice to refuse to give your child any medical attention like a cult would do.

Random fact: It is the collective responsibility of the players in a nation to ensure all currently binding RP laws are clearly outlined in an OOC reference bill in the "Bills under debate" section of the nation page. Confusion should not be created by displaying only some of the current RP laws or displaying RP laws which are no longer current.
