Bill: Official Separation of Church and State
Details
Submitted by[?]: Proletariat Revolution Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 2063
Description[?]:
To respect the diversity of our people, we shall not have any political ties between the state and religion. The state, for the sake of our people's civil rights, shall remain secular. The people of Likaton are free to practice whatever religion that they feel is right for them. The state shall have no say in the matter, as it is personal. The only time that the goverment will end any religious activity is if there is any form of human rights breaches/violations. |

Message | This is really vague- please come up with something a little more specific. 'No ties between State and Religion' can mean a lot of different things based on who you're talking to... For example does it mean that the use of religious symbols in emblems is forbidden? Even if they have always been there as part of our culture/heritage? |

Message | I just said political ties. I say nothing about outlawing emblems. |

Message | Does that mean that no one who is or was in a leadership position of a religious body can run for office? Good. |

Message | No, that wouldnt make sense. No official ties, eg head of state=head of church, or condonement of one religion over another, i agree, but i dont agree with actually forbidding the two to mix. |

Message | I know. That was somewhat sarcastic. Perhaps we'll compromise. No one who holds a leadership position in a church can run for office. They can still run for office, but they must relinguish their former position. That wouldn't prevent religious ideals from mixing. It's just a... 'good faith' appeal. |
