Voting deadline: November 4289
Description[?]:
Comrades, For too long now, the Dorvish transport system has been scarred by the class prejudices and gross economic efficiencies of capitalism. Under the terms of this Act, henceforth: * All public transport shall be under public ownership, and administered by democratically elected committees where both transport workers and commuters are represented. * All public transport will be free. * First and second class seats on public transport shall be BANNED! We are all FIRST CLASS people, regardless of whether we are rich and poor and can afford or not afford to pay for a more expensive seat. From now on, all seats on trains, planes etc. shall be FIRST CLASS. We will all travel in the same way, together. Trains, planes etc. shall no longer be segregated by class. * There shall be a full re-evaluation of the uniforms currently work by public transport ticket inspectors, station managers, security staff, pilots, air stewards, air stewardesses and so on. At the moment, the uniforms make them look too much like police officers, which means their uniforms are a symbol of class oppression. This is not how things should be; public transport workers should not be forced to wear the uniform of the class enemy. Something else will have to be come up with. Message | I would like to point out quite a few issues with your plan. First of all, how can any considerable body make executive decisions? You would ultimately need an executive at the head of the management structure, and would that not go totally against your point? Secondly, first and economy classes are not some kind of sick segregation. I think that it is entirely reasonable to have one service which gets you were you need to go and another which does that and has a few perks. You are acting like economy on an airline is some kind of horrific experience. Thirdly, how do you get foreign airlines to comply with our laws making all transport free? Or do you just remove all foreign-owned airlines? If so, you are isolating Dorvik and damaging the Dorvish economy. Fourthly, how dare you insult our brave police officers! They risk their lives for us and protect us. They not only look after the rich but the poor too and they protect our neighbourhoods from crime. They are not 'enemies', they are heroes. My I add that our party represents the poorest, most working-class part of the country - and let me tell you that none of them give a toss how air stewardesses are dressed. They care about their safety and having an economic ladder their children can climb. Cindy Kirchen Co-Leader of the Pragmatismus |

Message | We accept a transport system would need managers to direct it; we simply argue they should be democratically elected by transport workers and commuters, instead of being greedy executives appointed to maximise dividends for shareholders. The Honourable Lady may have been on fewer economy class plane journeys and train journeys than I have. They can be an uncomfortable experience. Under Communism, everybody will travel first-class and there will be equality of travel for everybody. This is what we are hoping to achieve with this Act. We propose to completely nationalise Dorvish airlines. Selected foreign airlines would be permitted to make flights to and from Dorvik, so long as they are fully under worker control. Time and again, the police prove themselves to be the Class Enemy, an armed mob used to oppress the masses and maintain the wealthy in their privileges. Message | Mr Pfeiferr, Democratically elected managers? Well surely they could just swindle those who elect them then. I will have you know that I was born to a family below the poverty line, and I had to work my way through education. I was not able to go on flights because I could not afford them. You are crippling the Dorvish economy by isolating us from all other foreign forms of travel. Our recent airline deal with Valruzia created thousands of jobs, helping the people you pretend to be for. Well then, if you hate the police, who will you call if someone breaks into your house? Who will you call if something of yours has been stolen? Who will you call when you have seen a rape? As a victim of rape myself, I think the police are the embodiment of everything good with our society. Cindy Kirchen Co-Leader of the Pragmatismus |

Message | Ms. Kirchen, Perhaps I spoke a little harshly. To be fair, some of the police do their best and can be helpful on certain occasions, but nevertheless, the fact fundamentally remains that they are the armed guard of the Class Enemy. Their purpose is to keep the masses in line. As for rape, of course, that is a direct consequence of the capitalist system of oppression. Capitalism relies on fuelling division and resentment to sustain itself, and so it sets men against women, race against race and so on. Men rape women because they are being oppressed by capitalism, so they take it out on women. Under Communism, there will be no rape, because there will be a full and natural harmony and equality between the genders. Friedrich Pfeiffer General Secretary of the Dorvish Communist Party |

Random fact: In order for a Cabinet bill to pass, more than half of the legislature must vote for it and all of the parties included in the proposed Cabinet must support it. If your nation has a Head of State who is also the Head of Government, then the party controlling this character must also vote for the bill, since the Head of Government is also a member of the Cabinet. If any of these requirements are not met, the bill will not pass. |
