Message | Mr. Speaker, We only oppose the Article 5 and 6 as we don't see any relationship between the ownership of radios and television stations and the civil rights. We think that the freedom of speech and freedom of press can be protected even it is under the ownership of the government. The government should set up laws to protect freedom of speech and press and regulate the definition of freedom of speech and press but not privatise the radio and television stations. This would make the TV and radio shows only become the dictatorship of merchants and imperialism. Besides, without government's funding, radios and TVs cannot run properly in such a big change. So we will vote abstain. And hope the Democratic colleagues to separate the bill so that we could express our support on other articles of the bill. General Secretary: Murakami Ichirō (村上一郎) |
