Bill: Memorial Session: Usama Safar

Details

Submitted by[?]: Dorvische Kommunistische Partei

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 4300

Description[?]:

We, the Politburo of the Dorvish Communist Party, would like to organise a memorial session in the Rat to process the death of Usama Safar, the former Head of State of the People's Republic of Badara.

This memorial session would consist of:

The entire Rat standing up while the Badaran national anthem plays.

Followed by 2 minutes of silence, during which time the Badaran flag will be raised above the Staatsrat building.

After which the Rat session will end and the leaders of all parties will be invited to go outside to put flowers at a pre-made memorial site at the Staatsrat Garden. A speech will then be given by the Badaran Ambassador to Dorvik, which will be streamed on live television.

I hope all members of the Rat would accept this and honour the death of a special man. Some of you may not have liked his ways but everyone should agree that he did everything he thought was right for his people and his nation.

We thank you in advance.

Politburo of the Dorvish Communist Party

Also, due credit to Menkiller, since as some of you have probably noticed, I've largely plagiarised the text of this bill from the memorial session he did for Konrad Mauer :).

MessageThis is absurd! Why should the nation of Dorvik a free and democratic society honor a man that led a dictatorship in a foreign country?!
It is so innapropriate that the DRF requests the Speaker to immediately support a motion to embargo the name of this dictator in our assembly! Not only that. Simply copying a bill created to honor a man that fought for Dorvik and died tragically is just having no rspect for his relatives and makes the DKP a cruel party in our eyes.

MessageMr. Chairman,

The working classes across Terra will find it incredibly disrespectful that the Staatsrat has refused to honour this great, political leader. Very disappointing. And very telling - that the Staatsrat honours a mediocrity like Mauer, but refuses to pay tribute to a towering giant like Safar.

Random fact: Particracy allows you to establish an unelected head of state like a monarch or a president-for-life, but doing this is a bit of a process. First elect a candidate with the name "." to the Head of State position. Then change your law on the "Structure of the executive branch" to "The head of state is hereditary and symbolic; the head of government chairs the cabinet" and change the "formal title of the head of state" to how you want the new head of state's title and name to appear (eg. King Percy XVI).

Random quote: "The two greatest obstacles to democracy in the United States are, first, the widespread delusion among the poor that we have a democracy, and second, the chronic terror among the rich, lest we get it." - Edward Dowling
