Message | Mr Speaker, May I welcome the Opposition to the Convocation. We hope that they will help contribute to the progress of Kalopi-Siphina. In regards to this Platform that they have represented, we are perplexed by some of the articles. Whilst there are articles that are befitting to a liberal party, it most certainly is not liberal to abhorrently restrict the rights of religion as they propose to do here. This is something we cannot and will not accept. With elections forthcoming, this bill shall be sidelined and the government will be putting forward plans to bring the articles we agree with into law. These are the articles that we shall be introducing another bill for (there may be slight adjustments): Articles 1, 4, 5, 8. I once again welcome the Opposition to the Convocation. Message | Mr Speaker, This Bill now has defunct articles, due to the introduction of the Government's Great Reform Bill. Even if the opposition push ahead with this bill, I would ask them to remove the articles as defined in my previous statement to the Convocation - Articles 1, 4, 5, and 8. Naturally, we will now vote against this motion were it taken to vote. Further, I would request that the Opposition refrains from creating such omnibus bills in the future. Whilst large scale reforms within one area are to be permitted, and expected from a party with ambitions of power, we would hope that future bills are either broken down into smaller pieces, or pieces depending on which part of the law they concern.
