Description[?]:

Special thanks to Jackasaurus Rex, who wrote the previous cultural protocols that these are based on. Link to the current protocols is here for reference: http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=522298

Religious numbers in the below proposed protocols have been significantly altered because the previous numbers added up to over 100%, a glaring error. My method behind this was simple. I reduced "No Religion" to 20%, added an "Other Religion" category of 4%, added the game-equivalent of Hinduism at 1%, and then roughly proportionally reduced the percentage of the other religions to keep our religions roughly in the same relative positions. I firmly believe this method will keep the "spirit" of the old religious demographics.

The addition of the Yaeti and Alirlans is justified based on historical and some current RP in Aloria containing these groups. The addition of a Rajutti (Hindi) minority fits with the usage of Indian names by some parties in the past and present.

The following are the new proposed cultural protocols, which will pass pursuant to guidelines on cultural protocols in the Game Rules:

Aloria, in most ways, can be summed up as "Wales meets Germany". Effectively, the country is part-Welsh (Draddeg, or Draddwyr) and part-Dundorfian (Dundorfische, or Artanian) with the important historical minority groups of the Yaeti and Alirlan peoples. In reality, the Welsh (Draddeg, or Draddwyr) culture and Welsh (Draddeg, or Draddwyr) people are more influential than the Germans (Dundorfische, or Artanian) but rather than seeking to oppress the German (Dundorfische, or Artanian) "minority", the two ethnic groups have reconciled and live in harmony. Most Alorians are at least bilingual, capable of speaking both Welsh (Draddeg) and German (Dundorfische). Although the Welsh population is the largest ethnic group they are not the native people of the land. The Welsh population arrived in Aloria thousands of years ago, originating from Dranland and the north Dovani plains. Aloria's Welsh name "Tirgwyryf" derives from the Draddeg words "tiroedd gwyryf", meaning "virgin lands".

ETHNICITY:
• Draddeg / Draddwyr / Tirgwyryfaidd (54%)
• Dundorfische / Artanian (35%)
• Yaeti (2%)
• Alirlans (2%)
• Selucians (1%)
• Rajutti (1%)
• Other (5%)

Alorian Draddeg (Welsh) people are plurality Hosian in religious orientation. Their majority is most pronounced in the provinces of Caermoel and Cymertraeth. Many Alorian Draddeg refer to themselves as “Tirgwyryfaidd”, deriving from the Draddeg name for Aloria, to differentiate themselves from the Draddeg outside Aloria. Draddeg people arrived to Aloria in two waves in the 11th century from the Great North Dovani Plain and Dranland in what is known as the “Mudo Darpariaethol” (Providential Migration).

Alorian Dundorfian (German) people are also plurality Hosian in religious orientation. Dundorfians arrived in Aloria after the creation of the culturally Selucian Holy Alorian Empire in 611 CE. Dundorfian population is most pronounced in the provinces of Gavonshire and Ultran.

The Yaeti people are the native peoples of Aloria. At one time the dominant peoples in almost all of modern Aloria, they now live primarily in the mountains of Caermoel. Their closest kin are the Dundorfian-speaking people, but isolation in the mountains has allowed the Yaeti to preserve many of their cultural traditions. The Yaeti have been an historically impoverished and marginalized group. The hugely dominant religion in their culture is Bogism, which has its origins in native Yaeti religion.

The Alirlan people (known as Latin-Alorians before the banning of real-life variables in-game) are descended from Selucian conqueror pilgrims who arrived in Aloria between 500 and 600 CE by way of Pontesi and north up the western coast of Artania. They have a distinctly Selucian / Latin inspired culture similar to real-life Southern European countries such as Spain, Portugal, and Italy. Most Alirlan people live in northern Sildar, their historical homeland. Religiously speaking, the Alirlans tend to adhere to Hosian faiths and the Alorian Hosian Church dominates their culture. While at one time a large proportion of the Alorian population, their numbers dwindled in 3400s during an outbreak of civil war when many fled to Hutori.

LANGUAGE:
• Draddeg / Draddwyr / *Welsh* (90%)
• Dundorfische / Artanian / *German* (80%)
• Luthorian / *English* (32%)
• Alirlan / *Interlingua* (3%)
• Yaeti / Kurmali / *Conlang created by JessAveryJA* (2%)
• Selucian / *Latin* (2%)
• Rajutti / *Hindi* (1%)

It is important to note that Aloria has two “conlangs” or constructed languages. One is Yaeti, constructed by the player JessAveryJA who at the time of this writing has a party in Aloria. The other is Interlingua which is a Romance-based language similar in some respects to Esperanto.

RELIGION:
• Alorian Hosian Church / Bishopal (45%)
• Confessional Ameliorate Church of Dundorf / Luthoran (15%)
• Bogism (9%)
• Aurorian Patriarchal Church / Patriarchal (6%)
• Geraja (1%)
• Other Religion (4%)
• No Religion (20%)

NAMING

Party names should be in Welsh or German, although minority language (Latin, Hindi, Interlingua, and Yaeti) names and English are acceptable (but English is least preferred). Alirlan person names should be derived from Romance languages such as Spanish, Catalan, Italian, Portuguese, etc.

MessageI'm happy with this and the inclusion of the Yaeti and Alirlans will make RP very interesting. I did notice that the Draddeg, Dundorfian and Alirlan people primarily follow the Hosian Church. Those ethnicity groups make up 91% of people, yet only 42% of people are Hosian. I'm not suggesting that 91% of people should follow the Hosian Church but 42% seems quite low to me.

MessageI have amended to say that the "plurality" are Hosian, which I think is a safe bet with the numbers. Thanks for pointing that out.

The issue is the old religious numbers added up to significantly over 100%, and I didn't want to significantly alter the religious numbers because I think the religion changes might be a hard sell to moderation anyway seeing as how they are all altered significantly. But they are for the most part proportional to the previous numbers.

MessageI'd be willing to go down five percent of the population as irreligious. That might rectify the issue.

MessageI have amended the religious numbers above to reduce the number of nonreligious. This has increased the proportions of the other religions.

Here are the number I was proposing previously:
RELIGION:
• Alorian Hosian Church / Bishopal (42%)
• Confessional Ameliorate Church of Dundorf / Luthoran (14%)
• Bogism (8%)
• Aurorian Patriarchal Church / Patriarchal (6%)
• Other Religion (5%)
• No Religion (25%)

MessageI think we can reasonably assume that, while some people are not religiously affiliated, many of these people will still believe in a higher power. Much like how nonreligion is growing in the US, but only a fraction of those that aren't religiously affiliated lack a belief in God.

I think it's safe to compare to RL numbers:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_irreligion
The Dentsu number looks to be what we'd want to look at. A 20% number fits neatly with the low end of developed Western countries, such as the US.

I also added 1% Hindu (Geraja) for the Hindi population.

MessageI think the changes are fine. Remember to change the top paragraph as it still says the no religion percentage is 25.
