MessageMadam Speaker,

Today I, on behalf of the Conservative Party, am proud to table our latest budget proposal. We are proposing an increase of 20 billion HLR to the Science and Technology budget to allow our world class scientists to go even farther with their research and help develop new technologies that will improve the lives of Hutorians. We are also proposing cuts to the Education and Health budgets due to the provinces handling the healthcare and education systems. We still will be spending 50 billion HLR for each to allow for funding to each of the provinces. This budget decreases our federal expenditures by nearly 13 billion HLR, creating a larger budget surplus and allowing for more tax cuts for the people of Hutori.

MessageMadam Speaker,

Whilst of course investment in science is tremendously important, we do wonder where the government is going to find enough scientists if they slash the education budget nearly in half.

With this extraordinary attack on the education system and the prospects of our children coupled with cuts to health and social security which will hit the poorest in our society the hardest, we cannot vote for this budget.

MessageMadam Speaker,

We have said specifically that the provinces currently handle and fund their healthcare and education systems. The federal govenrment does provide sumplementary funding, but we do not need to have that large of budgets for those departments.
