Bill: Anti-Conscription Bill
Details
Submitted by[?]: Liberal Progressive Alliance
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 4319
Description[?]:
It is important that all of our citizens have choice over where they want to end up in life. If a person decides to serve in the military, that’s fantastic. But no one should be forced to serve in the military if that isn’t the path for them. This bill will also ensure that we maintain a wholly professional army who are properly committed, trained and skilled. Conscripting regular citizens will diminish the quality of our armed forces. Dianne Atkinson President of Lodamun |

Message | Mr. Speaker, we do not even like the law as it stands, but a term in the military should help our young citizens making choices in further life. It is not a punishment. Ludvic M'ase LNC MP |

Message | M. Speaker, I don’t quite understand why the Lodamun Freedom Party is voting against a bill that directly relates to giving our citizens freedom to make their own choices in life... Dianne Atkinson President of Lodamun |

Message | Mr. Speaker, While the Lodamun Freedom Party does value individual freedom, we also see the possibility of a need of soldiers beyond the number that is maintained in our professional military in a time of war. That is why the LFP does not support this bill. We will work to make sure that Lodamun is never in a time of war so that required terms of military service are never required, but in the case that there is a time of war, the LFP wants to make sure there are enough soldiers to defend Lodamun. Random fact: In cases where a party has no seat, the default presumption should be that the party is able to contribute to debates in the legislature due to one of its members winning a seat at a by-election. However, players may collectively improvise arrangements of their own to provide a satisfying explanation for how parties with no seats in the legislature can speak and vote there. |
