MessageSince unregulated grazing has a much greater negative effect on the ecosystem, we propose for the sake of fairness to add a forfeiture of all private ranches that are among the largest 5% in the country, to be henceforth managed by the state with the advice of ecological experts.

MessageI will let my Science Technology and Agriculture Minister, Jeffrey Massey, answer that question.

Massey: I believe that should be the topic of a separate bill.

Spencer: Thankyou Mr Massey.

MessageWhat do you mean by non state? I mean are you talking about private business here? If so I can't back this bill as they would be banned. If that was changed to licences that would be much more acceptable. Otherwise you risk damaging the business, but it needs regulating to make it renewable and so we don't waste the fishing grounds that we have within our territory.

MessageI think he answered that in my question.
Would this include culling animals deemed dangerous by farmers without any proof? ie. Badgers spreading TB to cattle.

MessageNo, it would have to be deemed dangerous by the government.

MessageSo far we don't have any problems with this bill. There may be room for improvement, but we will still support it as is.

MessageThe connection between our proposal and this bill is in the stated rationale, namely to protect the ecology. We find it hypocritical that the government wishes to restrict greatly one of the economic activities that has the least deleterious impact on the ecology, with the predictable result that ranchers, miners, etc., will be able to engage in their much more harmful activities with less resistance from hunters interested in preserving hunting opportunities.
