Bill: Urgent Matter Regarding A Constitutional Breach - Presidential Election

Details

Submitted by[?]: Socialisma Respublika Partio

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 4321

Description[?]:

Chief Minister, National Assembly Members,

We ask that a fundamental constitutional matter be addressed immediately.

Under our current constitutional law, and in accordance with Amendment 1 made under the bill entitled "Defining the Role and Responsibilities of Head of State", a president may only be elected for a maximum of two terms.
(OOC For reference: http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=533284)

This is, in fact, the commencement of President Viktoria Apostolido's third term - meaning constitutional law has been breached either deliberately or, as we suspect, accidentally due to the election being called a year earlier than normal.

However, given the President's primary role is to uphold and be a guardian of the constitution, it would be completely incongruous for Madame Apostolido to continue with this third, erroneous term, with no action being taken.

We ask for the Chief Minister to urgently draw up a plan for dealing with this matter and also to ensure it does not happen again. If we start taking a laissez faire attitude to the constitution we might as well rip up all the statutes and make up the law as we go.

My thanks.

Zlatan Temelkido
Leader of the SRPZ

MessageWe at the Sankta Partio were not prepared for such a large turn out during this August's election.
But we do not believe it was right for the election to be called in the first place.
I was planning to step down as President during the 4320 election, but members of the assembly called this election anyway.
We at the Sankta Partio have devised a plan to fix this error on part of the assembly.

Here is the plan that the Sankta Partio proposes:

- The Sankta Partio will hold a primary will election will occur during the December of 4319 or January of 4320.
- An election will be called during the summer (June, July, or August) of 4320.
- A cabinet will be established after the election.

Random fact: "OOC", "IC" and "IG" are commonly-used acronyms in Particracy. "OOC" refers to comments, discussions and actions which are out-of-character, meaning they are done player-to-player rather than party-to-party. "IC" refers to in-character interactions (ie. party-to-party). Similarly, "IG" means in-game, although this term may also simply refer to what happens in the actual game interface, as opposed to on the forum or elsewhere. "RP" just means "role-play".
